I *must* own a sam splint*.  Also more triangle bandages.  Also a copy of Medicine in the Backcountry.

I am so totally hooked it's not even funny.

Yeah I know. You've never been hurt out there either.

Seriously though, they only cost about $12 and take up about as much space as a pair of socks. With about 45 seconds of shaping the thing was almost as strong as a cast.

I really should have more first-aid gear with me, actually. One of these, among the other things.

Are they readily available somewhere in Canada? Or do I have to order them from the USofA?

There's a place here that sells them. If I ever get out there I'll pick one (or two) up for you.

Have you taken any certification courses? I think the one I just took would have been really useful to you.

omg, that WFR class is totally badass. Want!

And aren't splints awfully swell? I remember getting unusually excited about the Sager (femur) traction splint in EMT school.
