I *must* own a
sam splint*. Also more triangle bandages. Also a copy of Medicine in the Backcountry.
I am so totally hooked it's not even funny.
My
Wilderness First Aid class was totally amazing. Except for the comunication breakdown in the Search and Rescue we did last night. I am probably not the person you want to have doing your splint (I really need to work on those) but I can roll you without breaking your neck, assess you and clear your spine. I can make a splint out of a sleeping mat, triangle bandages (or rope), sticks and whatever padding is lying around. I hope to god I never need to though.
I'd kill to be able to take the
Wilderness First Responder class in New Hampshire. It's only $895 and ten days long.
M.
* -- any of you who are out in the wild (I'm looking at you
dagibbs ) need to own one too. Seriously, it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen.
