Summary: Kurt and his dad visit his mom
Word Count: 313

His mother’s favorite type of flowers was a tulip. It was one of the only things he remembered about his mom and he knew this because every birthday, every mother’s day, and every anniversary Kurt’s dad would get his mom a bouquet of tulips. He would walk over to her, hand her the flowers and say, “There will never be enough tulips in the world to show you how much I love you, but I hope these will do.” She’d smile and kiss him; it always brought a smile to Kurt’s face, even if he was too young to really understand what was going on.

It never changed either. The exact same thing would happen for her birthday every year, every anniversary, and every mother’s day. His father would bring her a bouquet of tulips and say the exact same thing to her, “There will never be enough tulips in the world to show you how much I love you, but I hope these will do.” And every time she would just smile and kiss him. She never complained about how repetitive it was, or how uncreative it was, she would always smile and always kiss him.

And even after her death, his father still did it. On her birthday, on any anniversary, and on mother’s day, Kurt and his father would go to the cemetery and his father would place a bouquet of tulips on the grave and would say, “There will never be enough tulips in the world to show you how much I love you, but I hope these will do.” Then without fail, a light breeze would brush past them, and without fail, his father would say, “I love you too Katherine.” And Kurt smiled, because even though she was gone, there would never be enough tulips in the world to show her how much they both loved her.

Now, I'm off to go hug my mom for about the 20th time today!
