It was a one-time thing. At least, that’s what he kept telling himself. He only missed breakfast once and that was because he was running late. Every day after that was because he just forgot.
The next one-time thing was at lunch. Since he had run late that day, he had forgotten his lunch and he didn’t want to buy lunch. His friends had offered him food but he only took a few carrots from them. Every day after that he would eat about the same thing, if it wasn’t carrots it was grapes, but always a small portion and always vegetables and when his friends asked him he would always say he had a big breakfast. They would just nod and he would go back to munching on his food.
He decided to skip dinner that one-time because he just wasn’t hungry. He told his dad he had a big lunch and just wasn’t in the mood to eat. His dad had raised an eyebrow at that but didn’t question him. After that he would only eat dinner when his father made something and that was only about two or three times a week.
He always told himself that he’d eat more but then his clothes size went down and people had started telling him that he looked good. People started taking notice of him and actually smiling at him on a daily basis. It felt good so he didn’t eat because he forgot not because he didn’t want to. He could eat if he really wanted to but he just didn’t have the time.
He didn’t eat more then a few vegetables a day until Finn and Puck had confronted him.
“Hummel.” Puck blocked his way and Finn came to stand next to Puck. “We need to talk.”
He looked at both jocks. “I don’t see why I need to talk to you.”
“Kurt.” Finn looked sad and he never could really say no to Finn. “We’re worried about you.”
He smiled at Finn but glared at Puck. “You care about me?”
Puck just rolled his eyes. “Yes, Kurt I care about you.”
He gave Puck a skeptical look before turning back to Finn. “I’m fine.”
Finn looked at Puck who just sighed. “Look Kurt.” He turned back to look at Puck. “You keep getting smaller and yeah you were small to begin with but you’re getting smaller.”
“And we’re just afraid that something’s wrong.” Finn added.
He gave them both a small smile, placing his hand on their shoulders. “I’m fine, but thanks for caring.”
He walked away and if he forgot to eat his vegetables that day, it wasn’t on purpose.
