on saturday i went to pick up my glasses. i brought dan with me because i am a whiny demanding roommate who does not deal particularly well with city driving. (the bus would have taken twice as long as driving, considerably more actually since we had other errands to run. yay, seattle public transit.)
traffic was horrible for some reason, so we took some random surface streets.
not going the right way, but pretty...
not pictured: coffee at caffe vita.
and finally, after entirely too much effort, i had my glasses of +1 cute.
i made dan drive because a new prescription is slightly disorienting. i was suddenly six inches closer to the ground, for one thing. (yeah, i could have left my old glasses on, but the new ones were shiny and i was in ferret shock.)
also this way i could take pictures, and realize how badly i need to wash that mirror.
i was tripping out on how sharp and detailed everything was, so realizing that the george washington heads on the road signs are bumpy really tripped me out...and now i feel a little better because
i have proof they are not all that way and i haven't been missing things this whole time. so this is a mysteriously fancy george washington head.
excuse me while i stare at my face some more.
more driving, but in the opposite direction of traffic this time, and with more mountains.
and then we were at gasworks park.
there were police boats on lake washington, marking their territory.
we sat here for awhile.
a pretty long while.
not pictured: many happy dogs, none of which were ours to play with.
also not pictured: small child shrieking "look at the animal doggies! look at the animal doggies!"
i presume these are the gasworks.
they look like they'd be fun to climb on, but the fence says no.

"...how is that volcano hiding behind a tree?" - dan
(a photo that requires you to have very good contrast on your monitor is not a good photo...)
pay no attention to the two-year-old hole in my windshield plz.
not pictured: mutual fish. although some random internet person has
pictures and they also have a set dedicated to
our favorite taco bus. but today was not a taco bus day, because we now had tuna.
and then we went home and set things on fire in the backyard, like you do.
this one looks like some sort of demonic ultrasound.
not pictured:
quinoa which almost-but-not-quite worked, supernummy tuna and corn
the smell of burning wood permeating all things
sleep
then it was sunday. rather later on sunday than i wanted it to be, but dan and i went skiing anyway. (i'm not in sufficiently awesome shape for a full day on the slopes, anyway.) it was warm, and my light fleece jacket was so fire-scented from the night before that it still doesn't smell sweaty. and now i have a picture of me skiing (the parents wanted one for some reason).
i was rocking the skis as much as one can when you still refuse to be on anything but the noob slope. i didn't fall getting on or off the lift and i didn't freak out, so i count today as a win.
not pictured: my awesome sunburn.
