My favourite things so far are:
"Euler's formula that the number of faces plus the number of vertices minus the number of edges equals two doesn't apply to a polyhedron such as this square bagel."

and: Helaman Ferguson's "unruly hyperbolic quilt", which refuses to lie flat.

brokensymmetry, did you once mention this book to me? If you haven't seen it you should see if your library has it. It's amazing.
