Can you name all 10?

Way too funny: http://gorillamask.net/colbert10c.shtml

Don't you think that if you sponsor a bill about the 10 Commandments, and think that they are important, you should know what all 10 of them are? I'm just sayin'.

One of the ads was hilarious:
"Meet Married Women who are seeking romantic affairs"

How's that for coveting thy neighbor's wife?!

Colbert's great. I don't normally watch his show, though I might have to start.

I will agree that he should have known.

But let me play devil's advocate here.

Would Colbert react any differently to him if he did know all Ten Commandments, or would he show him up as a know-it-all who wants people to be like him.

See, I just think either way he would have lost on that.

the midrash is just an oral tradition, though... God says that all 500+ commandments are His and must be kept, through all cases where He speaks on the matter.

Personally, my favorite part of the clip was when Colbert repeated the question "can you think of any better building to put the ten commandments in?".

I think the best response to being asked what they all are would be to come up with 7 to 9 of them with increasing difficulty and finally give up and say "see, this is why we need a daily reminder of the commandments."

I only managed 9 off the top of my head: the bit about not taking the Lord's name in vain doesn't stick so well against the rest of society. Still, it could be worse: the politicians never seem to remember "thou shalt have no other god...."

Hahaha -- that was a great part.

That would have made him look better.
