That movie was ridiculously good. So good. So, so good.
Let's talk about why I'm pretty much in love with it right now.
1: James McAvoy is gorgeous and oh man that hair, but seriously you guys James McAvoy how am I only just realizing his glory.
2: Charles and Erik. And their super intense man love. Those two man love each other so much that I pretty much died at the end of the movie. My emotions were all over the place. /ALL/ OVER THE PLACE. But yeah, those two eye made-love-in-front-of-the-fire so many times in that movie. It was precious.
3: Hugh Jackman's there. For like a minute. And Charles and Erik are just like 'Oh hey', and Hugh Jackman's like 'GTFO', and Charles and Erik are just like 'Well okay then'. It was great.
4: The movie contains not one, but TWO montages. I'm a sucker for a good montage; two good montages is pretty much a seemingly unreachable dream for me. Today, that dream was reached. And it was glorious.
5: Set in Cold War era? Fuck to the yes, you guys. Fuck. To. The. Yes.
6: MOTHERFUCKING KEVIN BACON, BITCHEEEEEES.
7: The score. That was a good score.
8: There was a lot of really smart thinking involved there. Ideas from Charles' thesis that appear at the beginning of the movie come back into play later, there's a really great Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde thing going down, and there are a lot of really intelligent uses of superhuman abilities.
9: But really the main reason I love it is because of the man love, I'm not gonna lie.
I kind of have to wonder though. How are they supposed to be enemies now? Like, how do they fight against each other after that? I mean I understand that Charles and Erik have different ideologies and as much as they want to agree they never will, and that's sure to cause conflict...
But like, the others. I dunno, I mean, I just kind of have to wonder how they're choosing sides here. Ideology? Loyalty? And what the fuck was up with Raven's choice, huh? That just felt odd to me. I /really/ can't understand how she could just... go off. But I mean, I don't know. This would probably make more sense to me if I had actually seen any of the other X-Men movies.
*looks around shiftily*
Yeah, I should get on that.
