Last week I went on a holiday to Queensland. It is one of my favourite places in Australia and I really enjoyed spending time with my family. But I must say I never thought I would arrive.....

It all began late one Sunday evening when I arrived at Sydney airport and I found out that my flight to Coolangatta had been cancelled. You can image the frustration of all the people who were suppose to be on the flight. I thought I was dreaming I was so excited about going away and now I would have to wait until the next day. To make things worse there were no flights left to the Gold Coast so I would have to fly to Brisbane and get my dad to come and get me. What a great dad!

I got up bright and early on Monday morning and arrived on time to the airport. As I approached the gate my plane was taking off from, I was told that my plane was going to be two hours delayed. By this point I was that tired all I wanted to do was sleep. I felt like crying! I called my father who was waiting for me at the airport and he said I should go and buy myself a dress to cheer me up. Well that’s exactly what I did and it did help the situation a little bit.

Two hours later I boarded the plane and everything was fine until 30 minutes into the flight when the captain turned the seatbelt sign back on. He told all the passengers that we were going through a rough storm and it was important that everybody was seated and had their seatbelts fastened. I felt physical ill. My imagination ran wild with horrible thoughts “Maybe I just wasn’t meant to go away” “what have I don’t wrong to deserve this bad luck?” And to top it all off a few nights before I watched the movie ‘Snakes on plane’, what a dumb thing to do I know.

After the all the drama I finally landed at safe and sound in Brisbane. I had never been so happy to see my dad before. It was so nice to see a familiar face.

My holiday ended up been cut a day short but I had a great time with all of my relatives. Thank goodness the flight on the way home was perfect!
