I appreciate those of you who have asked polite questions, shown genuine curiosity, rather than visceral emotional responses, and have respected my right to have an opinion that differs from yours.

I appreciate your willingness to further articulate your positions here. Given that I am mostly Socialist and have previously lived in a Socialist country (as do you, might I add, moreso under the Republicans in fact), I am not going to agree with many of your assertions. I personally have no problems with sharing my wealth to make things more fair. Nevertheless, I do think that there are those who have argued the positions that you hold with more nuance, more detail, and less polemic. I just do not think you are correct about your reasoning on many of these items. For instance, I do not believe that what you have written about socialized medicine reflects Obama's position. Can you support your positions with concrete evidence?

Also, do not assume that there is a correlation between being Republican, being in favor of defense spending, and being in the military. My father is both a WW2 and Korean era vet and is as left wing as they come. I also have vets on my flist who would have a lot to say about that correlation. A lot.

I am just not sure from this that you have really demonstrated command of the principles or intent that the "founding fathers" placed into the documents that are the foundation of our government. More importantly, I do not think that you have showed an understanding of the historical circumstances that have shaped this country and the inequities that have developed as a result. Those are very key economic and social determinants, and you cannot ignore their impact.
