Well, as predicted, the 'trip' to Southport didn't go without any incident...

On Monday, the actual funeral went as well as funerals go, I guess. The weather held for most of the day which was a good thing. The funeral directors were incompetent; one looked like the Honey Monster and they forget the straps to lower the coffin into the ground. I bet my grandad was having a right laugh up there at it all!

In true northern style (ok, maybe that's a bit of a stereotype) the wake was held in my grandad's local pub. Drinks all round! It would have been what he wanted though; no fuss and get the ale in! So, that went well. We saw family members we hadn't seen in nearly twenty years so that was nice. But it's a shame things like these only seem to happen when there's a funeral. Anyway, we then moved onto another pub (my grandad's new local lol) and that was then things started to kick off.

We were there for about an hour and my mum and sister were getting hungry so we all decided to go back to my nan's, get changed, order in a takeaway, and then go back to my uncle's house. So, we got to my nan's house where she declared she was going to bed and that was when I knew something was off. But to cut a long story short, my nan chucked my mum, my sister, and myself out of her house because my mum and her two brothers hadn't spoken to her much during the day as they were so busy keeping the other family members occupied. And someone also called my nan Harry Potter.

So, my mum's old girl started trying to shout the odds at my mum but my mum just told us to pack our stuff up, phone dad, and go straight to my uncles. The old girl didn't like the fact she didn't get a reaction out of my mum so she started even more. She threw loads of stuff out that we had left (bearing in mind my uncles went to her's yesterday morning and she LIED). So by all intents and purposes, I am without TWO grandparents in the space of a week.

Stupid old cow.

Anyway, I'm home now - my mum seems okay and the dog seems to have missed us. I also had my five year old cousin hanging onto my leg begging me not to leave earlier.

ale, southport
