Yesterday I migrated from my 15" PowerBook G4 I've had since 2003 to a new 20" iMac... and, consequently, from Tiger to Leopard at last. My old laptop was getting too slow, and its CD drive rarely worked, which turned me off from keeping my iTunes library up to date. The only downside is that I need to buy a new Photoshop, which I am kind of pissed about, because I need it to do anything on my websites.
So.. now, all my music is in one place! And I have desk space in front of me! I can actually write in my journals on my desk and not on my bed! I can watch YouTube videos without choppiness, and can even watch them full-screen! I can connect microphones to my computer, and record multiple tracks without the computer turning on all its fans and flipping out! I can put CDs in without the computer struggling to make something of them and finally giving up and spitting them out after a half hour.
So now, I am stuck here going through my entire iTunes library. I want to make what I listen to actually representative of what I like. This is not a good idea when I have other things I want to do today. But I am deleting songs that I don't like, and making playlists for songs that I do, since a lot of the time I download single songs I like from here and there. Here are my categories so far:
chill
consort music
electronic - other
modern classical
stupid pop
turk - pop
I used to like my "pain" playlist, but this new computer doesn't remember what was in the playlist. I can remake it if I really care that much.
I will make a conscious effort to discover new music. I know I keep saying that, but I think I will actually need to set a certain period of time each week to sit down and just do that.
I am only on artist-name B so far, though, so I think I should leave now and continue later. I need new clothes.
