50 Book Challenge: January

Feb 04, 2012 22:24

I'm only 4-days late! I wasn't planning on starting over at the beginning of the year, seeing as how I started last year's challenge in something like April, but ... well I am starting over. I did a lot of reading the month since I've been home from work. I also haven't been very tired at night, so I tend to stay up way too late reading. Ooops. Tonight will probably be one of those nights seeing as how Danny won't ben home until 2am and I can't sleep without him home. Blahblah. Here we goooo:

1. ~~ Finders Keepers ;; Fern Michaels
page count: 352
personal thoughts: I downloaded this book on my Kindle because it was free from the library and I couldn't find anything else that sounds remotely interesting at the time. I had heard of Fern Michaels and I liked a lot of what I'd read from her in the past, though I honestly didn't know too much. Anyway. I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK. Seriously, I stayed up until 3am last night reading this book. I couldn't put it down. I'm definately interested in reading more of her books in the future. Loved it.

2. ~~ Table for Eight: Raising a Large Family in a Small-Family World ;; Meagan Francis
page count: 256
personal thoughts: I like books and blogs where they talk about large families. I'm always curious as to what I can learn from other moms, especially moms who have many children. I hope that Danny and I have many children one day. Anyway, this book was pretty good. I didn't love it, but it wasn't bad at all. I got some good ideas from it.

3. ~~ A Dangerous Fortune ;; Ken Follett
page count: 576
personal thoughts:I started this book not thinking that I was going to like it, but I really did enjoy it by the end. Would definately read more books like this in the future.

4. ~~ Having It All...and Making It Work ;; D. Quinn Mills
page count: 144
personal thoughts: I read it all the way through, but I didn't enjoy it. It wasn't what I wanted it to be.

5. ~~ The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl  ;; Ree Drummond
page count: 256
personal thoughts: I loved it! I'm actually planning on trying out several of her recipes! I rented this book on my Kindle, but I might actually buy it. I'm pretty cheap so that says a lot. Very good cookbook!

January's Totals:
books read: five. I actually finished one more towards the first of February, but let's call it 5.
page count: 1584 / 15,000. My monthly page goal is something like 1250, so I'm pretty happy with that.
goal for next month: read at least four books + 1200 pages.

I just downloaded a few books on my Kindle, so I'm pretty well set up for this month. I think I found seven books that really interested me, so I'm thinking this will be a good month.
