Zero no Tsukaima 03 (princess of Rondo or whatever) sucks, and I'm ranting about it.

So here I was, hoping JC Staff would go epic with ZnT3 after ZnT2's brilliance finale, but they didn't even bother trying to fix the trainwreck that was 02. Instead of getting 02 without all the boob jokes and going back to 01's formula, JC instead tries to go 01 with boobs, and ugh, is it terrible. To make matters worse, they've switched Louise ( Read more... )

Well, if you're blah about starting the series as a whole, I say ignore the above rant, because I really think the first two seasons stand on their own rather well. The first is somewhat boring but at the same time it's sincere in a sort of fruity way. The ending has its crazy epic moments, and I still like Saito's rather hax "IF IT'S A WEAPON I CAN USE IT" ability (which also applies to planes, lawl). The second series improves on the first massively, I think, with the most epic final showdown ever, but it proves its inability to live up to the source material by, well, cockblocking itself or something like that. I don't know, I really, really love the first two (the second especially), but I can't recommend the third to anyone at this point. I mean, I hear it gets awesome and all with Louise even punching someone (although I can't verify that one OTL), and Saito's slow digression of character, so yeah. But anyway, if you haven't picked up the first two, I think they're pretty nice. Louise > Shana anyway, IMHO.

But enough of ZnT. I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF SOUL EATER OH MY GOD. Every week I think, "dammit, this show is awesome", and then with every new episode, I end up thinking, "DAMMIT, THIS SHOW IS AWESOME. I don't even want to touch the manga until the anime is over, because I don't want to disillusion myself. And it's totally rare for me to do that. Other than that, the only thing I'm watching is Code Geass, which I don't enjoy in the least. It's an amazing trainwreck, and I watch every week to see how much harder it can fail. I knew with the first series that it was destined for suckitude, but it has, by far, outlived every expectation I ever had of it. I can't wait to see the brick wall this train will eventually derail into.

Nah, I've watched the first two seasons and thought the second was a step down, personally (many would and do disagree with me on that), so naturally I was skeptical about the third. Maybe I would have to read the original novs to "get it," but that's not something I have any plans of doing.

I actually started the Soul Eater manga not that long ago and Bones is doing a really good job with the animated portion. Also I think Excalibur has died forever, so there's another bonus. Just annoyed at all the Black*Star fans who exlaim: "It's like watching Naruto twice a week!" Anyway, I don't think it's spoilers to say that 21 will probably be the best thing ever.

Code Geass I can't watch .period. because I'm pretty sure when that its birth caused CLAMP to delay work on Tsubasa for what I would estimate to be a year, which I could easily forgive but have not been willing to. I can't comment on it other than asking how many children had to die to fuel the hype train that got it where it is today. Roommate seems to adore the show, though as far as one might gather from a conversation with him it could very well be about the power of geese, angry Brits and robots notwithstanding. R2 is the last season anyway, I do believe, unless I'm somehow mistaken again. I have class in twenty minutes. Stop making me waste my time ranting in your comments.
