School days, school days. Good old golden rule days...
David is going to Kindergarten on Monday.
I'm not quite sure how to feel about this. I mean, I knew this day would eventually come. Kids are supposed to grow up, after all.
I guess I just didn't count on it all happening so fast.
We got him a Spiderman folder and notebook at the store today, and then went to the Open House at the school so he could go meet his new teacher, Ms. Taggart. She was very nice, in fact, I like her. :) David's had a case of missing his preschool teacher, Miss Tina this week. He wasn't really too sure about the whole thing at first, but he got playing with the kids in kitchen stuff (he made the pancakes), and things were all right. Alex made himself perfectly at home, coloring and playing with the kitchen stuff and the old-style phone receiver while I filled out a questionaire about David. When were were about ready to go, Ms. Taggart showed him where the restrooms were, and I think that won him over on her. Whatever it was she did, she must have made a good impression, because as we were heading back to the minivan he said, "Ms. Taggart is beautiful!"
Is that not adorable?
I hope he stays that sweet as he grows up. He tells me I'm beautiful at least once or twice a week. (even when I am truly not looking my best)
I think he'll do pretty well in Kindergarten. I don't really know what to expect, seeing how I never went to Kindergarten. I'm guessing it's a bit like 1st grade, with a little more play time. In Preschool he learned how to write his first and last names, count to 20, recognize most of his letters, memorize his phone number, oh, and how important dental hygiene is. ( I STILL hear about how much sugar is in different foods. For awhile he wouldn't touch cookies because they had "a lot of sugar.") So all in all, I'd say he's fairly well prepared for it. The difficult part is going to be keeping him on task with homework. The child has the attention span of a gnat sometimes. (I say this with love)
*sigh*
I'm pretty sure this means I'm a grown up, for real, now.
I think I'm about as nervous/excited as he is!
