yesterday's elections leave me with a feeling that is something vaguely akin to optimism... though i am having a hard time distinguishing it for sure because i seem to have forgotten what optimism actually feels like

heh, nice characterization of how "our generation" reacts to politics. I think my friends pretty much split about evenly down those lines.
and no kidding about southern california. when you think of "awesome cities of north america" you think new york, boston, san francisco, austin, vancouver, toronto and [name your personally idiosancratic favorite city here]. la may be big, and where there are big cities there are hot people and drugs, but thats about all I can say for it.

... I wasn't as informed as I thought I was. Some names I'd never seen before, especially on the judicial section. I think I did the right thing on the propositions. I don't know. Need to read up more before voting next time. I went along the line of the Broward teachers' union, Democratic sweep, but some candidates were listed by themselves with the question whether or not they should stay in office ... evidently uncontested I guess. Eh, I did what I could. :)
