"I'm going out!" Melanie called just as she threw her handful of Floo powder into the hurriedly-lit fire. Before anyone in her household had time to make an objection (not that she would have paid them any attention anyway), she stepped into the green flames and called out her destination ( Read more... )

Holding up a hunter green camisole and a bright red camisole, Cecilia couldn't choose which one would look better on her. After a moment, she decided that she couldn't decide and she would buy both of them. Turning to walk towards the front, she spotted a very familiar face.

"Mel!" she said, excited to see one of her best friends.

Melanie looked up from her intensive search at the sound of her name, immediately recognizing her friend.

"Well, fancy running into you around here," she said with a grin. "I guess I wasn't the only one in need of a good shopping spree."

"It's one of the only things I've been doing all summer," Cecilia admitted with a sigh. She draped the two camisoles over her forearm, and smiled.

"It's been like hell at home," she added. "But, London always helps. How are you?"

"Better, now that I'm out of the house and in good company again. The family's been driving me crazy, but that's to be expected, I suppose," she shrugged.

"It seems as if that's the general consensus for our group," she said with a shake of her blonde head. "Mori and Draco are exactly the same, we're all dying to get out of the house."

"The only real happy one is Riley, I suppose," she added with a shrug. "But that's Riley for you."

"Nothing wrong with being happy," Mel said, mimicking Cessy's shrug.

She looked down at the skirt she had picked out, examining it as she spoke. "Maybe we should just move out. Pack up and leave. You think the parents would mine? Hell, that's if they noticed..."

Cecilia honestly thought about the idea for a moment, genuinely adoring the look on her mum's face if she ever packed up and left.

"Merlin, I wish we could do it," she said. "If you, me and Mori all got a flat together? Wouldn't that be brilliant?"

"It'd be beyond brilliant," Mel agreed, finally deciding that the skirt was at least worth trying on and picking out her size from the rack.

"Too bad we'd probably end up getting arrested because we're minors and all that."

"One more year, eh?" she asked, moving towards a display of rather cute pumps and flats. She picked up a pearly white pair of heels and considered them for a moment.

"Then, we're free to do and go as we please."

"Thank Merlin," Melanie said with a roll of her eyes. She walked a little further down the shoe display, occasionally picking up a sample and looking it over before putting it back. "It'll be about time, too."

"Tell me about it," the blonde grinned towards her friend before asking a sales rep for the shoe in her size. She might as well buy something while she was out.

"Not like I know what I want to do when I leave..." she trailed off with a shrug of her shoulders.

"Not like it really matters," she said, holding up two different heels, trying to decide which one was worth trying on.

"If my parents have their way, I'll get married before I have the chance to choose something," she said with a roll of her eyes.

"Speaking of which!" Cecilia couldn't believe she had forgotten to tell her.

"Did you see Draco's post?"

"If it was about something important that I should probably remember, then no. But do tell."

"Lucius engaged him to be wed," Cecilia replied with a drawl. "Can you believe it?"

The sales rep came back to her with the correct size of her shoe, and she cradled the box under her arm.

"To a girl no less."

Melanie blinked a few times, trying to decide whether she had, in fact, heard her friend correctly.

Draco? Married? To a girl? Hah.

"Oh dear Merlin," she muttered, trying to stiffle her oncoming laughter. "Poor Draco."
