My long detailed update

Dec 24, 2005 17:28

I am sorry for not updating in so long. I have had quite the busy and eventful month and all the details are below. Let's just say my life is falling into place and things are going the best they ever have gone!

PERSONAL LIFE
Dom and I went up north to the cabin for our anniversary weekend. Again, there was no heat so we spent most of the time by the fire place keeping warm, watching celebrity poker, and doing homework. Saturday, we decided to go walking in the woods. Dom pulled me around in the sled and we roamed the 25 acres of snowy forest. It was so beautiful. He then pulls me out to the peninsula where we want to get married and we are looking out where all the people would be sitting. He says, "this is where we are going to get married." I take in the view and then respond with, "yeah, and we have so much planning to do." He then says, "Well, we can get one thing out of the way...I have a question for you" and gets down on one knee and pulls out a ring. Of course he asks the question, but I am so taken by surprise that I raise my hands up, lose my balance, and fall backwards into the snow yelling, "NO WAY!" No, that wasn't my answer, that was my response to being so shocked! Anyways, I said yes and it was just an amazing moment. We stayed there for a little bit and then headed in where he made me a steak dinner. I cannot believe how well he thought everything through and how sneaky he was! First off, he asked my dad and my mom and feeno for permission without me even knowing. Secondly, he bought a phone card for me so I could call people because our cell phones don't work out there. Thirdly, he knew I was picky about rings and wanted a certain type, so he just picked out the most beautiful diamond in the whole wide world and had it put on a solitaire. He then picked out a ring that he had on hold, and also put a ring I had pointed out as liking before on hold so I could have my choice. He told me whatever ring I wanted, whether it was on hold somewhere or if we found a different one, I could have. He wanted me to have exactly what I wanted. He is so sweet and so thoughtful!!!!!!!!! I can't even begin to tell you how lucky I am.

Since then, we have been working on announcing the engagement, getting pictures taken, picking the date for the wedding (9-9-06), coming up with a guest list and other wedding essentials. On a side note, I got a really cool wedding planner and I am so organized! I love it!

PROFESSIONAL LIFE
Well I applied for that leadership coordinator position at MDRC and I posted that I got an interview. Since then, I have had the interview - it was so freakin' hard! First off, it was a panel of 4. Yikes! Secondly, I was all prepared for the top 35 most frequently asked questions. I had things down and was ready to rock their world. Then I enter the interview to find that they didn't ask ANY of the questions I was prepared for. Instead, they asked questions like, "how would you go into a arab american community who is resistant to outsiders and recruit and empower leaders," "what types of accommodations might people with disabilities ask for and what would you do if someone requested an accommodation you were unfamiliar with," and "what is the hardest part of coalition building?" All very thought-provoking questions, which I had answers for. However, they asked the questions and then it was silent with them all looking at me waiting for a response, which put the pressure on and made me feel like I needed to answer right away. So I ended up saying the first thing that came to my mind without thinking it all the way through. Well I guess my answers were acceptable because after calling my references, I was offered the position. I cannot believe it! I am so happy and so thankful. It is seriously the perfect job for me and I cannot wait. I just hope it will work out with MSU and my internship. I start the job on January 9th and I get to work with Theresa which makes it even better!

ACADEMIC LIFE
After working my butt of over the last two weeks of the semester, the grades finally showed up and I got another 4.0 semester! I have gotten a 4.0 in every class in my grad school career....now only three more to go. However, I am not sure I'll be able to pull it off with working full time. I can't decide if I am going to drop down to part time and graduate a few months later or just have 5 months of school and work both full time and then be done with it. I guess it depends on the demands of the class.
