Wow, it sure feels good to be home. My whole life I've taken for granted the beauty of the Bay Area. Riverside has given me an undeniable appreciation for the comforts of home. Anyhow, I haven't posted an actual update in quite a while, so now seems like an appropriate time to do so. Progressing backwards, here's a few recent happenings:
Start with today, woke up late! Hauled a bit of booty in the morning to gather some last minute items, mucho thanks to Johny for taking me to the airport. After my parents picked me up at SJC we went shopping at Valley Fair. I still find it odd how much closer I've gotten to my mom and dad. I honestly don't know whether or not there has been an actual change in the quality of our relationship or if the only change has been my perspective of them. Either way, for once in my appallingly ungrateful life, I truly enjoy their company.
Yesterday was my Midget Ben's graduation from the Marines. Thank you John for driving me all the way to SD for it!! The entire ceremony had a beautiful, yet disturbing quality. At times I just wanted to scream my head off and run through the perfectly aligned parade of Marines. The soldiers seem so constrained that it made me want to jump to the other extreme and demonstrate complete chaos. Too much order drives me crazy, very much like my reaction to libraries. Anyhow, it was good to see him again. Now he's one of the few and the proud! After that, I came home and cleaned the apartment. Upon opening our refridgerator I was completely disgusted! I haven't eaten at home in well over a month, so much to my surprise the entire fridge was covered in mysterious sauces that had leaked from unknown sources and dried up all over the shelves. Disgusting. Cleaned the fridge to the best of my ability, tidied up around the kitchen, cleaned my bathroom, cleaned my room, whoop di do.
On to my birthday. Spent the day with Ryan. He skipped work to take me out on my birthday, which is way more than I deserve, but I'm very grateful. He spent the whole day with me and treated me to lunch, a movie, and ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI for dinner! We ordered some hot sake [my first time as a 21 year old ordering an alcoholic beverage] and I didn't even get carded.
The night before my birthday. Let me just say, that ERIC, JOHN, VAL, STEVEN, and all the rest of them are the BEST! Eric threw a little get together at his house for me! They even got me a cake all the way from San Gabriel that said "Happy Birthday Mei," which is beyond awesome since I've never had my name on a cake before! Haha, I had a great time. I love my friends! :)
