feelings are overrated

Sports are back! And they bring nothing but misery, as expected. Why do I spend so much time anticipating them and watching them? Agonizing.

I guess I'll do a real update soon, probably about all the books I've been reading.

In the meantime:
-Feelings Are Overrated: So it's going into accepting what you can't control, the factors that are out of your hands, and seeing what you can do with what you can control. And learning to be proud of yourself not just for accomplishing what you can, and not beating yourself up for what you can't. Not seeing yourself as a failure, when you haven’t really failed because it’s not something that you could have controlled in the first place. And admiring your ability to withstand a feeling of rejection, and the frustration and the pain, and keep going on towards a more reasonable goal while being a good person. That’s also what’s emphasized so heavily. Figuring out your own values and sticking to them.
-Some things every couple should talk about before marriage: tl;dr Kids, wills, finances, jobs, chores, movies, songs, fetishes; Sex drives, end-of-life/retirement goals and plans, your families and how important they are to you

I've been watching the k-variety show The Return of Superman and while the show itself is cute, the comments on the videos...essentially 16 year olds complaining about a 3 year old's personality (in acting like a 3 year old) and also judging and condemning the parents' parenting. OK, then, 16 year olds. But the kids and families are cute, so that part is fun. Satisfies my urge for cute kid interactions without the actual responsibility of real kids.

sometimes i watch tv, i read too much, all the feelings, let's meta
