The rainbow effect
__In yukihiro-san’s career, the longest tour [Tour ’98 “Light my fire”] has just begun. How do you feel?
yukihiro: “I feel it’s getting better. I have only the experience at Tokyo Dome as Laruku member, but personally it was very good. So I feel I have to top it”
__ Overall, I feel your lives have a very deep and dark sound. Did you make it on purpose?
yukihiro: “I think that I wanted to focus on the performance. For example, in the Dome, I wanted to leave out as much as possible things that can be done only with the band, even songs synchronized with the tape”
__For this reason, maybe the groove changes depending on the day.
yukihiro: “Yeah”
__On the bass drum front head there’s a skull artwork. What’s that?
yukihiro: “That was an idea of the drum technician, Yokochin. He told me: “We can add something three-dimensional”, and I wanted to try. Each time I step on the pedal, the front head vibrates and the skull slightly trembles. It’s funny. In the beginning, because it wasn’t stuck firmly, I had the impression it was saying “yeah, yeah”(laugh).”
__People in front row, please enjoy that, too (laugh). By the way, there’s something you want to do during this tour?
yukihiro: “I was thinking of bringing skateboard, but I couldn’t yet. In the beginning I thought of bringing bicycle, but it seems there will be no time for riding. ”
__You are more active than I expected
yukihiro: “I became active after joining Laruku. Before that, I was doing nothing, because I thought that a musician making music everyday in trouble was cool (laugh). But now I’m thinking that if I don’t enjoy myself, it doesn’t pay.”
__ Was this the effect of members’ influence over you?
yukihiro: “Yes, it is. But because, when making music, our whole attention is fixed there.”
__You have changed a lot in this year.
yukihiro: “I’ve changed!! The fact itself that I can chat like this is an incredible change!! In the past, because I wasn’t too much talkative, interviewers didn’t like me.”
__(laugh) The effect that the change of environment causes to personality is great.
yukihiro: “Yes, it is.”
