Fate

Tetsuya says in the second part of Tetsugaku chapter 7 that “even the meeting with someone is decided by fate, to a certain extent”. But he also believes that death is decided by fate, that’s why he talks about that, too. And death tied together two very important people that appear in the interview.

i enjoyed reading this, i've been hoping to come across a translation of this book somewhere. glad to see you doing this. :) i've always thought tetsuya was a much more complex person than his stage persona would suggest. or even in recorded interviews, as he often is so cautious about what he says then that he ends up basically saying nothing much.

this was a good interview, tetsuya made a few important points i personally agree with, such as talking about the dead. my dad and i talk about mom all of the time, not that we would ever be able to forget her as we have evidence she is haunting the house. lol so not an exaggeration! ^__^ but it is good to keep those we've lost in our lives and not just in our minds and hearts.

i also think fate plays a big part in our lives, though we may feel we have full control over our choices. but when it comes down to it, things will eventually happen because they were supposed to no matter how we might try to circumvent situations. ^^

and his comment about people at funerals. yeah.... *nods* i'd rather people had a party than be insincere in grief.

thanks for doing this. i look forward to your next installment.

Thank you for your deep comment ^^

Yes he feels more at ease here than in official interviews, where he has to take under control every word he says.

The whole discussion about death is very mature, ne? even if there are some cultural differences i cannot ignore, i think he's extremely right when he points out that the saddest thing about dead people is the fact they may sink into oblivion soon.
i feel that the fact you keep talking about your mother so much is a very nice thing. i'm sure she is very happy about that ^^
i'm quite the opposite, but i sometimes i behave like Tetsuya says, asking dead people in my heart what they think about something, as if they were still alive^^

And your comment about funerals reminded me of "Summer wars" end, when the grandmother dies but all her relatives hold a party instead of a funeral. How nice, i thought!

this was made out of the blue, i'm not planning to translate the whole book, sorry ^^;
i like working on songs better. this doesn't mean i won't translate anymore from the book, it may happen but who knows when XD maybe at that time someone will have translated the whole book already XD
