John Lennon was always my favorite Beatle. But now that I'm adulting.... I think I've changed to liking Georg the best. This video is just one example of the cleverness of this quiet Beatle. I'd never heard it before until our beloved DJ on KSPC played it during his morning polka show this past week! And it's not a polka song....

Here are some NEW things I'm trying in 2018:
1. AND MOST IMPORTANT!!! Limit my scrolling time on Facebook. I've gotten much better with limiting Instagram scrolling, mainly because IG has messed up my feed by showing me only pictures it thinks I want to see (*eye roll*). So if I haven't liked your IG photo for a while, it's not because I don't like it... it's because I don't scroll long enough to see it.
But in all seriousness, my FB scrolling has gotten bad. There are times when I NEED to be on FB for my Usborne job but I'm finding that when I'm done with that task, I sit there mindlessly scrolling and liking random posts. So enough of that. It doesn't often bring me joy - in fact, it makes me feel tired and drained. I've decided that when I pop on FB I'm going to 1.) check notifications and reply as needed, 2.) make any Usborne posts I need to, 3.) walk away. Seriously. Walk away.
One great thing I did for myself last year was removed FB from my phone. I reinstalled it once my Usborne business started but I kept notifications OFF. I think I'm going to uninstall it on my phone again this year. This will really help me to be more purposeful when I sit down to get Usborne work done so that my time doing Usborne is spending DOING Usborne and not turning into a scroll fest....!
2. 1 - 2 teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar in 8 oz. of water first thing every morning. My church friend, Desiree, recommended this to me and Jeff has been taking shots of Apple Cider Vinegar any time one of us in the family gets sick. I don't remember the last time he was sick... I've heard this remedy helps boost your immune system and helps curb your appetite. I'm up for BOTH those things in 2018!
3. Purposeful and intentional relationships. One of my good friends from college and our time in InterVarsity (Binu) inititated a hike with me and our other friend Linda this past weekend. We did the 5-mile loop in the Claremont Wilderness Park in just over 2 hours. It was the BEST way to start my day and I LOVED spending time with these women! We got caught up on life and talked as if no time had pasat - the conversation came easy. It was just lovely! I want more of THAT in my life. I want to stay more connected to the friends I am still in touch with and maybe even reach out to those friends I'd lost touch with but still care about and want in my life. And I need to be ok with the fact that I can't be friends with EVERYONE but I can invest my time in those friendships that will help me grow as a person, friendships that are FUN, frienships that are meaningful. It has meant so much to me that both Linda and Binu reached out to me this last year - on our hike and back in September I went with Linda to see Beach House and Fleet Foxes at the Hollywood Bowl! It was awesome! I'm so thankful they reached out!
More on other resolutions in a following post. I also want to limit my journaling time and being ok with stopping when I need to, even if all my thoughts aren't all recorded here. Stay tuned!
