Audrey decided she wanted to be a pirate practically the second last Halloween was over... So once she knew Oliver was on his way, she thought it'd be cute for him to be her parrot. I couldn't have agreed more! We were at Target randomly several weeks before Oliver was born, which would have been more than a month before Halloween.... but we were able to find these two costumes. Perfect. And sold!
I'll tell you right now, if I could do it all over again.... I would have just dressed Oliver in a blue onsie and pants and put a hat with feathers on him. This huge contraption of a costume was a big overwhelming for him AND me. This picture was snapped just as we arrived at Trunk or Treat at Arcadia Pres with Jeff's family. Then Oliver proceeded to scream in his stroller, was held by Gramma and calmed down, but the costume was just so awkward. The hat flopped over his eyes, the suit rode up and covered his face, his shoes fell off... ugh. Too stressful! So it came off soon after.
Here is Audrey and her cousins. I was a little bummed I wasn't quick enough to get a picture of all four of them in their costumes but that's what next year is for, right?!
Halloween was on a Monday this year. Audrey got to wear her costume to school. What a treat! Here she is with some of her friends before the whole school costume parade!
These were taken by a room mom. Jeff and I left soon after the parade since we needed to keep to Oliver's feeding schedule. But we got to see her walk and then she got to do another Trunk or Treat right there at her school - pretty neat!

Audrey and her kindergarten class!
Jeff and I made it out to Claremont for our morning walk. Oliver was awake which was a nice treat! He took in some of the sights, sounds, and smells before nodding off during our walk. Very cute:

Later that day, I had a really sweet Tummy Time moment with Oliver:

I had to time the whole day so that Oliver and I could meet Jeff and Audrey up in Lincoln Park for trick-or-treating. Now, if I could do it all over again (which I won't), I would have just stayed home with Oliver. That's what I did with Audrey on her first Halloween. But no... I took the stuffing out of his costume, put the costume on him, and buckled him into his carseat. He fell asleep (as planned) on the way there and stayed asleep for a while. But when he woke up, it was non-stop screaming. Poor guy! He was probably like, "What the heck is going on right now?! Why am I dressed like this?! Why is it dark?! Why am I outside?!!?!?" At that point, I called it an evening. I felt really bad. Audrey was SOOOooooo excited to trick-or-treat with the big kids. :( It was at that moment that I wished I had just stayed home - then she could have stayed out longer and had fun.
So we hoofed it back through Lincoln Park and stopped at the Gearharts on the way. While we were there, Oliver was crying and then Kenneth started crying too! Ugh! Halloween FAIL! Eventually we made it back home and surprisingly but not surprisingly, Oliver was super happy and calm! I think he just freaked out being out of his element... Once he was home and everything was familiar, he felt better. Such is the plight of the second born I suppose. As I said, we didn't do that with Audrey her first Halloween.... and I think most new parents would keep their infants home on such a night. But alas, Jeff and I wanted to fun with Audrey so Oliver came along too. Halloween comes but once a year!
