As you know, Audrey is now crawling! She is getting into all kinds of mischief in a fun and exciting way. In fact, right now, she is attempting to "help" me update my blog - she is reaching out and touching the keys and other parts of the computer as we sit together on the couch.
We've had to say "No" to Audrey about a few things in our home that aren't quite baby-proofed yet. One area is by our T.V., where we have some loose wires I plan to cover once I get a chance. It seems like she response to "No," especially as she's getting closer to those loose wires. As she's reaching out, we say "No" and she stops, looks at us and flashes us a HUGE smile! It's pretty cute.
Other than those things, we let her crawl where ever she wants! She has gotten into our DVD and CD collection, loves our napkin holder, enjoys pulling our coffee table books down (and even ripped the cover right off of one - whoops!), loves crawling under the dining room table and chairs, and also has fun pulling her blankets off the changing table. Just recently, she discovered how to open the drawers of her dresser. It's so much fun to watch her explore!
I love this video because I think it captures the excitement and overwhelming sense of freedom Audrey has discovered!

Another exciting devolpment is that Audrey has started to experiment with pulling herself up. She mostly pulls herself to sitting straight up on her knees, usually while grasping the coffee table. But the other night, she used my rocking chair stool to pull herself up to standing (sort of). It was exciting! We were getting her ready for her bath (she loves crawling around in just her diaper).

All of this mobility can also lead to trouble! At daycare this past week, she was crawling around on the lineoleum floor and slipped on a bib that was on the floor. She face planted and ended up getting a bloody nose! Poor Audrey! The ladies gave her a cold compress and she was better and back to crawling in no time.
Audrey also almost got in trouble for shoplifting at our local Trader Joe's! You know how they always have baskets of stuff you can buy once you're at the register? Well, this week, they had several bright, beautiful, blue canisters of sunscreen. Audrey liked touching the canisters and faster than a ninja, without us knowing it, she grabbed one! Luckily, I looked down at her as we were leaving and caught her before we left the store! Next time, she may have to go to baby jail! (kidding...)
Along with being mobile, Audrey is now nine months old AND she has a little tooth popping up! (Finally!) She doesn't seem to be too bothered by teething but honestly, I can never be sure. All babies are fussy at times but Audrey still seems to sleep and eat well so I mostly attribute her fussy times to tiredness or hunger. Except for last night......
Last night was a rough night. She woke up at 12:30am babbling in her crib. Jeff was still up and assumed she must be hungry. So he woke me up and I nursed her but then she just wasn't tired - she went right on back to babbling and looking around her room as I deliriously tried to get her to settle back down. Every time I put her down in her crib, she'd cry. This went on for TWO HOURS. Finally, Jeff (who was a real dear and helped out a lot) suggested we give her some baby tylenol since it might be her tooth causing her pain. I also decided to nurse her again since 2 hours had passed. She went right down after that...
I'm not sure if it was her tooth causing her pain or if she was just awake to be awake. But I hope this doesn't become a regular pattern! Audrey has been such a great night time sleeper so I hope that momentum continues!
