For the past two weeks, we have been spending part of our Saturday together as a little family at the park. It's Jeff's job to find a new park for us to visit each weekend.
Last weekend, we went to Golden Springs Park in Chino Hills. This park has a lake filled with ducks and turtles - two animals that remind me so much of my Grandmama and Papa. It also has a scenic waterfall. It's a small park but has a nice walking trail around the little lake. The bathrooms were hideous... but all else was serene and beautiful. We were there towards the end of the day at dusk.
Here's a picture of us taken by a mother walking her nine-month-old daughter who was also named Audrey! I guess the name we thought was so retro has become hip again... oh well.
Yesterday, we hit up another new park - Sycamore Canyon Park in Diamond Bar. We spent our time walking the nature trail that led up to a nice lookout over the canyon. The park was green and beautiful and the play area was AMAZING! When Audrey gets older, we will definitely return to watch her run around on the huge playground. As for yesterday, it was a bit too chilly to sit in the grass so we headed home after our walk (which Audrey mostly slept through).
I love that we have this little "tradition" of taking Audrey to parks. The reason we do this is because we can tell she enjoys being outside in nature. Even when I pick her up from daycare and step outside, her eyes widen and are filled with wonder as she looks up at the leaves on the trees blowing in the wind. Lately, I've been walking a little slower from the daycare to my car so she can soak in as much of the outside as she wants. Also, when we get home, something that is relaxing for me and interesting for her is sitting outside on our enclosed patio on a rocking chair. Audrey gazes all around at the shadows the sun makes on our neighbor's house, the leaves blowing in the wind (again), and even cars driving down the road. I sing or talk to her and she sits so peacefully and sometimes even drifts off to sleep.
I love my nature baby!
SOOooo excited to be outside!
