I am up way to early for a Saturday. I've been battling a cough and sore throat since Monday. After waking up about four times last night, I'm done going back to bed - it takes too long for me to get comfortable again. Plus, I'm not really tired anymore.
Apparently, the world is ending today. Personally, I think it's a load of crap.
1 Thessalonians 5:2-4 (NIV) for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.
So there.
This is week 28 of my pregnancy. The big new task for this week was starting my kick counts. What I have to do is concentrate on my baby's movements for a set amount of time. Usually I do this after I've eaten. Then I lay on my left side and just focus on how many kicks or movements I can feel from baby. I'm supposed to feel 10 kicks within 2 hours. Thankfully, Baby J. has cooperated every time and has gotten all her kicks in in way under 2 hours. Here are my counts so far:
5/17 - 5:15-6pm (45 minutes)
5/18 - 5:20-5:30am (10 minutes - she woke me up and was kicking up a storm! That day was easy to count)
5/19 - 7:20-7:30pm (10 minutes - I had eaten two Hawaiian sweet rolls and drank some juice. I think she enjoyed the sugar rush. Plus, the whole rest of the evening, she was extremely active and Jeff was able to feel a few of her BIG kicks - it is so much fun when Jeff feels her! He gets soooo excited and then talks to her trying to get her to kick some more. Totally adorable!
5/20 - 6:00-6:25pm (25 minutes)
Books and other materials about pregnancy state that at this point, you should be noticing more exact habits forming for when the baby is awake and sleeping. I haven't noticed a set schedule per say - perhaps because I am still too active during the day with teaching to really notice.
Speaking of which, only 3 more days with students and 2 of them are half days! Hallelujah!
Today is Jeff and my 6 year anniversary. We're planning to spend the day in Santa Barbara! Last year, we spent Memorial Day weekend there and had such a great time. We know for sure that we want to have lunch at
La Super Rica Taqueria - we ate there last year and it was AMAZING! Other than that, we have some loose plans. We may go to the Botanical Garden or the rose garden outside the Santa Barbara Mission. We may drive up the coast and look at the scenery or we may go in some art museums. Either way, it will be very fun and exciting to spend some time together!
Here is a montage of our wedding anniversaries together:
