Reportedly it's the third deepest snow that's been recorded, though actual snow depth varies. I have friends who reported thirteen inches! I didn't measure the snow on my car, but I'd guesstimate about ten inches. (Yet there's a space under the magnolia that I swear has just a dusting.)
It was sufficient that the mail wasn't delivered yesterday--too soon to tell for today--and trash was not picked up this morning. (I'm hoping for tomorrow for that.) The main roads, however, are pretty clear. I did stay home yesterday, but hubby cleared the drive and walkway and worked last night. I cleared (most of) the snow off my car today and went out to get a prescription that was ready for pick-up. Only slid, minorly, once. I couldn't vouch for back roads though.
It's warmer today than it has been for a week. In fact, we're on a warming trend that will take us to 60 F. by New Year's. Wow! I'll certainly be glad to see clear roads on New Year's Eve, whether I'm out there or not.
I've discovered snow, especially when accompanied by leaden skies, makes me lethargic. I'm still in the same clothes I wore yesterday! I fell asleep on the couch last night. I heard hubby come in, laugh at me, and turn the TV off. He left the lamp on though. Try as I might, I could never rouse myself enough to turn it off (or go down the hall to bed). I ended up pulling a decorative pillow over my face.
Now that the sun is out and I've been out, I'm feeling more energetic. There's hope for me yet.
