ok so this is the token end of the year entry. though the year is not even close to ending, it is already gone in too many ways. so many memories and so many emotions that i want to grab and wrestle into this entry but i am afraid i can't do that because a part of me wants that to only be between us...the five of us, the eight of us, the twelve of us. most importantly us five and our social circle. so i have my folder in front of me, the pages and pockets stuffed to the brim of papers and mementos. so let's see what we've got:
-mitch hedberg ticket: matt i finally got to know what a neato guy you are, and how horrible meg is at directions. the show was great. with great company.
-dane cook: remember when we all got our tickets at pre-sale and screamed and screamed with excitment. that was one of my first impressions of whitbit, not only playing some of dane's stand up but wordlessly acting them out and i laughed until my tummy hurt.
-michael moore: wow, i totally forgot i went to see him. kyle! that was when i waved to you. whoa strange. yeah seeing Michael was pretty sweet, seeing him again i mean. meaghan met ben there for the first time too. he was wearing a Jon Stewart t-shirt and i was really jealous of it.
-the killer ticket: hands down an awesome show. megan taylor, kevin and i getting lost in downtown factory detroit. but the show was amazing and i got some kick ass pics.
-death cab for cutie: wow i went to a shitload of concerts this year. whit and i went to that. it was cold and i was wearing a short skirt. they didn't play transatlanticism which made me feel bittersweet that whit wouldn't get to hear that song live because it is breathtaking. i remember Pontiac felt so empty.
-rilo kiley: what a weird weekend in Ann Arbor. it was fun regardless just odd. it was good to see my U of M friends though i miss them so sometimes, like when i see a gnome or a dumb person or anyhting that resembles stupidity and liberalism.
-iron and wine: most beautiful concert i have been to.
-Washington D.C. transit pass: ok i could write about three pages about this trip. it was so incredible that i was very depressed when i returned from it and wanted to leave MSU as soon as I could. because suddenly the world seemed so big and i was so small and felt like i was doing nothing to improve it. D.C was magnificent and those car rides was probably some the most fun times i have ever had in a car. three dreamers in a ford explorer with only empty eastern roads ahead of them.
-airline stub to LA: thinking back i forget that we went to California, it seems to be a dream. all i want to say about this is that the West Coast is my first love and one day I will chase it down and be with it forever.
-MAE concert: i wish Mae didn't bring back such troubled memories for me, but i love whitbit.
-Death Cab playlist: oh! i forgot that at the concert i made Ben Gibbard a button that said I Heart Seattle because he lives there and I love Seattle too so I made a matching one. Anyway my friend Alex got the attention of a stage crew and i told him that i just wanted Ben to have this pin, and he gave me the playlist. it was pretty sweet.
-Motion City Soundtrack ticket: haha i remember how PUMPED i was to introduce you guys to that song because it fucking rocks the shit out of a lot of songs. and when the concert rolled around, only whit and i shook our bootys to that man and his crazy beautiful hair. mmmmhhhh lovely.
Rilo Kiley playlist: again i have to give Alex the credit on this one. Because it was my birfday and he not only pulled me to the very front of the concert as I stared at idol Jenny Lewis but leaped onto stage and grabbed this list for me. kickin
-The Burn Theory: we must never EVER forget this one kids.
that's it? that is all that is in my folder? oh god but there is so much more. snowfights and ice skating. there is drunken kisses and falling down all over the place, climbing trees and hot caramel apple cider, there is fall leaves and silen snow. there was humid nights and swimming in the pool, going up to jeff's cabin and lighting a pumpkin on fire with pure alcohol, watching the Exorcist, nights when meg and robbie and i would stay up until 5 a.m. talkinng about souls and life and death and everything in between. there were crushes on my WRA t.a. even though he was 5 ft tall it was just because he was so so smart. it was late night movies and caffiene enduced 4 a.m. sex and the city and chinese food.
sure there were fights and dissagreements, judging and nitpicks at ourselves and each other but deep down nothing but love grew and continues to grow between us. again because we are what life is, we love each other for their little quirks because those quirks make us who we are. so kacie can make all the funny noises and faces, freak out at squirrels, eat peanut butter with a spoon and preztels with marshmallow fluff and attract all kinds of boy. whitney can smell like intoxicating vanilla, wear her beautiful peasent dresses, talk to us about dreams, play mellow chords write dreaming word and read to us every inspirational story she finds. megan can drink us all under the table, tell us about the dead bodies in her lake with a huge smile on her face, say "you know what i mean?" three thousand times in a conversation, flirt shamelessly with her T.A in hopes of a good grade and nothing more, call her boyfriend what she also calls a pasta dish, and make us all realize we are glad she has us in her life. and meaghan can tell us one hundred times a day that she is going to throw up, scream and makes the most hilarious faces EVER until we all like..pee our pants with belly laughter, give out great advice and take some of her own too, get very drunk very fast and dance the pants off of all of us. and me? i can show up with my outfits and sarcastic yet honest comments, disapprove of all our boyfriends because damnit we deserve Prince Charming (or at least Aidan Shaw), write down all my thoughts in one sitting like i am doing now, get pissed off at conservative right wing politicians, be a celebrity whore and ride along on my carousel.
because we are sitting on a carousel ride....i hope we all have the pretty ponies.
Once upon a time in a HUGE university not too far away there lived five smart, beautiful women, who were all very good friends.
this is not the end my friends. i love you all more than words can express.
