Ignore the title. It means nothing. Just a line from a song I've had stuck in my head.
It seems as though I've fallen off the face of the planet or something. I feel as though I owe my LJ an update as to how the birthday and wedding, seeing as how I complained about both for months and months. But now it's been two weeks since and my memory is getting fuzzy. It must be a sign of me getting older... But I'm going to try to do the highlights (at least those I remember).
Friday, May 2: My birthday. The celebration technically started at midnight. My best friend and I went out after work and at exactly 12:00, I ordered a drink to celebrate the occasion, which some random stranger at the bar bought for me.
That morning, same best friend and I went to get our "intuitive readings" done. I don't know what to call the lady - tarot reader? I dunno... Anyways, it was, hands down, one of the coolest things I have ever done. The lady was so right about me at times I wanted to cry. She was off on a couple things, but other than, she really nailed me and the people/relationships in my life. And she was right about S as well, so it wasn't just a fluke. A couple interesting things she said was that I'm a "healer" so whatever I do, it'd heal people and that my lifetime is sponsered so I'll never have to worry about money or anything like that. For future stuff, she said that I'd get married suddenly; I'd have 2 daughters, one of which would be a dancer, but I might delay having children due to my career or my husband's not wanting children. I'm not sure I' believe the future stuff, but she was right about everything else, so we'll see...
I went out for lunch with my mom and went shopping where I bought WAY too much, but used the excuse of just buying myself a birthday present. We also went to Build-A-Bear and I made a bear!!! OMG. So awesome. Yes, I was like the oldest person in there, but it was so much fun. And my bear is so freaking cute with her adorable little outfit, Ms. Penelope May. Then it was cake and champagne (ohh la la this year) with the fam.
Dinner with those random people I call friends was... awkward at best. I mean, no one fought with each other and it went relatively smoothly, but I still felt the tension at time, especially when no one was speaking. And, of course, I felt obligated to speak to everyone so no one else felt awkward. But, overall, it wasn't as bad as I had imagined. Although I don't think I'll be doing this again next year.
So, it was a good birthday. A million, billion, trillion times better than last years. Although, that wasn't too hard to beat.
Saturday, May 3: K & S's rehearsal dinner. I was, of course, late to a dinner where no one in their freaking family is ever on time, so I kind of felt like a retard walking into a room full of people praying, ya know, as I'm talking loudly and such. I sat by people I didn't know, so that's always fun, too.
At rehearsal I learned that I had to walk down an aisle that was about 5 miles long, in front of 200 people, IN HEELS! So, that was nervewracking. Something to look forward to...
So, given my relationship with K lately, I didn't expect myself to get emotional or anything. Mostly, since I was so not happy with her. But, at rehearsal, I teared up a little when one of K's friends started singing this song she was practicing for the wedding. It was just so pretty and it really hit me that they were getting married. So, I resolved to just be happy for them, at least for that one day, and forget about everything else.
Sunday, May 4: Wedding day. The morning was spent with bridesmaids, but no bride, since she suddenly came down with the flu. So, we get ready and drank lots of mimossas before heading over to the church, when K was finally feeling better.
The best part of the day was, hands down, being privy to a big surprise! My good friend, L, is friends with K's cousin, N (ya got that?), so L called me to tell me that N was flying in that morning to surprise everyone, including K, and I was the only one who knew! So, when she got there, I snuck her into the church, guarded the door while she was changing (looked crazy and was asked numerous times what I was doing, LOL) and sent the photographers into where K was getting ready so they'd be able to capture the moment. When N was finally ready, I took her in and completely surprised K and the rest of her family. Many tears prevailed. It was a good moment.
The ceremony seemed like it took forever since my heels were freaking killing me! But, I did not trip down the aisle nor fall of the stage. And I only cried when the minister was pronouncing them man and wife. Overall, not too shabby.
The reception was pretty good. Had to walk about 12 miles in killer heels to get like 3 pictures taken. Nearly starved to death waiting to get inside, oh, and nearly passed out from heat exhaustion. But, we finally got inside and got to eat! And these people just kept filling my class with champagne and then people kept passing me glasses of Merlot, so needless to say, I got a little tipsy.
Okay, that was my winded recap from like 2 weekends ago. Now, I'm late for dinner with the newlyweds, who shockingly invited me over for Mexican and margaritas. Well, I guess only 1/2 of the newlyweds, but whatever, that shouldn't surprise me.
birthday,
friends,
wedding
