I want to do a random post of stuff:
1) Saving money - listening to NPR yesterday, an interviewer stated that we could cut HALF of our power bill if we were smarter about plugging things in/unplugging unused items in the house. If you can't remember to unplug the toaster, TV, computer, chargers, printers, stereo recievers, refrigerators (joking!), and digital photo frames (all touted as the worst for drawing phantom power), look into one of
these. Smart power strips could make a huge difference in this economy, for very little investment!
2)Help with budgeting -
Buddi is an open source budget software. Think Microsoft Money, but free. I've started using it, and I like it!
3)Cheap Healthy Good - one of my FAVORITE food blogs.
http://cheaphealthygood.blogspot.com/ The name pretty much explains it all.
4)Fuel Efficient Vehicles - Kent has been researching these things -- for those that want to dramatically improve fuel efficiency for fairly low investment (lower investment if you build your own), and are daring or auto knowledgeable, take a gander at
these hydrogen converters I don't know if I'd build my own, but there are auto mechanics that specialize in installing pre-manufactured ones. Where's the fun in that?!
5) Good golly miss molly, Mac is shedding like crazy. This isn't really anything for YOU, it's just an aside. The woolly mammoth may soon be morphing.
6) Podcasts: I always like to plug my favorite podcasts. This week favorites are: Jay and Jack's LOST podcast, CNET Buzz out Loud, NPR Wait Wait Don't Tell Me
7)Someday in my life I will get myself a website that categorizes my writing, horses, design, and cooking. That's a big someday. Gotta get hitched first. Until then, I'd like to think that I'm broadening everyone's horizons. Again, just an aside.
8) Awesome Recipe: Barefoot Contessa's
Spanakopita. It's vegetarian, it's a little difficult to make, but BOY howdy are these things tasty. Bonus: they freeze and reheat SO well in the oven! Or try
Tyler Florence's 9) GoodReads.com find me, friend me, and don't be mad when my list 'to read' is WAYYYYY longer than it should be ;)
okay, that's it for this time. Gotta go work on the website I'm working on for a friend of mine, finish the dishes, write some more cards, update my photo album, and study for my certification!
