crib/toddler bed for sale

So we're getting Keira a new bed, which means she has an old one she doesn't need any more and we do not exactly have storage space for it, especially when we have no plans for another kid. However, it's a great crib/bed, and we'd like to see it get another life.

I know a bunch of you are planning on procreating in the next year or so, or maybe you know someone who is. We'd like to sell the bed to someone we know first.

This bed was *supposed* to be a "bed for life"--a crib that converts to a toddler bed that converts to a headboard and footboard. Unfortunately, the rails for the final conversion were sold separately, and by the time we got around to trying to buy them, the style was discontinued. We've been told it's not *that* hard if you've got some basic carpentry skills to make it into the complete bed, but we opted for a brand new one.

Anyway, my point is that this could be anyone's crib, toddler bed, and possibly bed for a very good price. We originally got the bed on sale for $250, plus a mattress for $90, I think, plus several sheets and a bed skirt that are all Classic Pooh design. We'd like to sell the lot for $175, money which will then go immediately into Keira's college fund.

If you're interested or think you know someone who might be, here's some pics. I'll keep this post un-friendslocked in case you want to point anyone to it.

The mattress has six height-settings. This is the tallest.

Here you can see the profile of the back side (conceiveably a headboard) and also the fact that it's a flip-down side. I read a lot of things about how that's safe than a drop-side. The spring-latches that hold that panel up are *very* strong. Also, what looks possibly like consistent damage here is actually just shine from the flash.

I can't find a shot that shows the whole front, which has a bottom that echoes the top of the back. That's the potential footboard.

This is either the second or third height-setting down:

And here it is as a toddler bed. The flip-down part becomes the rail. You can also actually see the crib skirt in this shot.

Because it's been used almost every day/night since Keira was 5 months old, it has a bit of wear and tear, but not too much. The varnish has been rubbed off a bit near the top on the interior right side, and also a bit on the rail, and the top of the flip-down rail has some tooth marks and dings, but those are only visible up close.. If you do want to convert it to a lifetime bed, neither of those pieces is part of the final bed.

We have all the original instructions and hardwear. The crib band name is Always by Baby's Dream, if you want to research it. (There was a recall of the brand in 2003...we didn't get this one until 2006, so that issue isn't a problem). Let me know if you have any questions.

(And no, this is *not* the heirloom cradle hand-made by monks.

bed, keira
