I get pestered by god-botherers for being an atheist all the time. I'm sure you've heard all the arguments and exhortations. But let's forget for a moment about the lack of any evidence whatsoever. Let's forget that religion is one of the single most virulent afflictions that mankind has put on itself. Sincere belief in anything without evidence is a disease of the mind that I hope we, as a species, can over-come eventually.
But if someone came to me with hard evidence that one of the many versions of judeo-christian gods existed, I would just as soon spit in its face than pay it homage. I would do everything I could to fight its followers and I would happily spend eternity in hell before I spent one word on devout prayer to this fiend.
These things are abominations. If you take the books of their followers at face value, and their followers do, the gods in these books are evil, tyrannical monsters bent on genocide and destruction of those who don't bend knee to their brands of faithless bullshit. It's like you take Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer, and Pol Pot and put them in a spoiled child's body, complete with outlook and temper tantrums. These beings, if taken as real, are evil through and through.
Satan would be a breath of fresh air compared to these assholes.
But if evidence existed, it would have been presented by now, so I don't have to worry about any of this. It's simply a mental exercise.
