manga: Hellsing Vols 4-5

So, is it just me, or is Alucard consistently more and more giddy about getting to fight? I think he was about to go through the roof in anticipation when Anderson was on his way. (And poor Anderson! Not only was he not allowed to try to kill Alucard, but he also had to help him!)

The flashback to Integra learning about vampires as a child was interesting. I wonder if that was before or after she “acquired” Alucard. Alucard’s dream where he was staked and being taunted by someone who looks a bit like Anderson was interesting. I wonder if it was a flashback, and premonition, or a weird combination. The weird gun spirit dream was…less interesting. Really just weird.

If I hadn’t been told about the shota werewolf, I would have thought he was a girl at first. And…err…was he developing a crush on Seras, there? And I’m amused that, in this case “it didn’t take” with killing someone even involves blowing off his head.

I kinda love (in the “WTF?” way) the Nazi vampires/ghouls/werewolves/etc., but get kinda bored when Hitler Jr. starts making long speeches. It starts reading like “blah blah death blah blah destruction blah blah.”

I would not mind back stories of Alucard and young!Walter (What was he in the flashback? Fifteen?) fighting nazis and apparently getting chummy with the queen. Especially since the stories with the Vatican’s hitwoman squad seem to be gone.

I’m glad that it was Integra who finally got Seras to drink blood of her own free will. Mostly because it would have been dull if it had been Alucard taunting her into it. Seras has been having a rough time of it lately. Maybe Integra will let her beat up mercenaries with finger flicks again.
