Super Gals! Season 2, eps 17-21
There was an entire episode devoted to ramen and making ramen. It made me so very, very hungry. I must have real ramen and okonomiyaki before I die. It's a goal.
Meanwhile, I give up on Rei. He may care about Aya, but at this point, he's the world's worst boyfriend, and really no good for her. Honestly, I never look for alternashipping, but I've exhausted all alternate possibilities for her. All the decent guys in the show are taken, too old for her, or way too young for her. And half of them are taken, too. At this point, I'm thinking she should just switch teams. There are a couple nice girls on the show who are still single. Seriously. Rei has driven me to lengths I almost never go.
VALENTINES DAY!!! Yes, that brought on Rei's greatest moment of asshattery yet, but we had Monkey Boy pining and pining and pining for chocolate from Ran. Poor Monkey Boy. Between the high maintenance and standoffish-ness, no wonder he has issues. Still, he's about 5000000 times the better boyfriend than Rei. As is Yuuya, even though he hasn't actually realized he LIKES his girlfriend yet. Yamato, of course, remains the perfect boyfriend.
AND THERE WAS AMAZING EMO ANGSTY FLASHBACK GRADE SCHOOL FIRST LOVE!!!! Poor Rie found and lost her first love at 11...and then found him 5 years later only to learn he was moving in a week. ALAS! At least she had Ran there to stalk them into a long distance relationship. This show manages to make the oddest things serious and dramatic.
AND DETECTIVE KUDOH! WHO HAS A CRUSH ON TOWA!!! Too perfect. Except that they killed Det. Kudoh on his show, shattering Sayo's heart for all eternity. Or at least until Ran told him to spend the day wityh Sayo and make her happy or die. No one makes Sayo sad. Det. Kudoh couldn't resist the giant begging eyes, anyway.
AND A RAMEN BATTLE!!!! With Ran's battle strategy including eating ramen from both Monkey Boy's family restaurant, and the super ramen chain trying to put it out of business. And now Monkey Boy's father has declared that Ran is like family and that he has a sensible future daughter in law. She will never escape.
So much love all around, aside from the trainwreck that is Aya/Rei. And that started out pretty well, too. Aya, sweetie, just find a better boyfriend. I beg you.
