Claymore Vol 6

So, a lot of the Claymores are actually awakened beings?  And there is potentially a conspiracy to wipe them out?  And Miria disapproves?  Most excellent.

I'm not quite sure what I think about Ophelia.  It just seems...really obvious to make one of the Claymores out to be an evil, bloodthirsty monster.  Yes, a few before this skirted on the edge of that, but never this far.  I do, however, quite like Galatea, at least so far.

One thing I like about this series is that it takes traits female heroines are typically given that are supposed to give them an "edge" to keep them from being too much weaker than the heroes, but that really don't make any difference-intelligence, speed, agility, awareness-and actually uses those traits to make them so dangerous.  You know, in addition to the whole "super warriors" bit in the first place.  They also actually think a lot more.  I like having people in my shounen think.  It's probably happening because they're all girls.  Except Raki.  But he's a kid.  And a miraculously unannoying one at that.

I do wonder, though, what's up with the men in black.  Are they the ones really in charge of the organization?  Does Clare's man know she may be an Awakened Being?  How much actual care do they have for their charges?

Yeah, this volume was mostly Miria's revelation about some Claymores being Awakened Beings and her awesometastic conspiracy theory, and the introduction of Ophelia, but it was awesome.

And as the brain is still rejecting things that aren't European-based medieval-lite fantasy, I may go ahead and get caught up with the English releases of this one.  And then hunt down scanslations so I can do a pimp post and try to force other people to read it so I'll have people to talk to about it.
