However, I was bored by the first volume of Hot Gimmick and didn't bother to read more, but according to the article, the hero demands sexual favors from the heroine, which I didn't remember at all(and I checked with forgottenpolish, who HAS read it and she says that I remember correctly and that's not the case)
He does demand, but he never takes and she never lets him. He backs off cause he knows she doesn't want. I swear did they read Hot Gimmick? I will admit he was a jerk to her, and she was a bit of a push over, but they came to terms and she grew up and so did he. He was still bossy to her, but hey that's what she wanted. And he really cared and protected her. Just cause a guy is bossy to a girl doesn't mean its bad, especially if they don't mind and its not terrible. I mean, no one goes up in arms with girls boss guys around. She takes it, but she knows she can stop it or say know any time, its perfectly clear.
You don't want me to have to defend Si/Domyoji. Heck at some points (at least in MG) she treats him worse then he does her. He was consistent with how he felt and she was all over the place with him and dragging him along. Can we talk about the stuff with Rui/Lei?
I find it funny that its cool when girls turn the table on guys but OMG NO guys can't be that way, or even be that way and change. My two cents.

And the above is, I think, what makes HYD/MG so popular...because she never gives an inch unless she wants to and she makes him work for it.
