I don't have any Haven icons at all, but I love the show. And yeah, their relationship really had a much nastier edge early on, to the point that I'm still a bit confused as to where all that went.
Rewatching, I'm think Nathan just loosened up (or maybe more accurately, was forcibly loosened up by Audrey) and worked out a lot of the anger by helping the Troubled and then he and Duke were both kind of forced to acknowledged the other had decent points, and then Nathan started sinking back into that mindset with Duke when Duke started acting like he might go vigilante after Evie's death and they were getting closer to answers, and then he just snapped back to it when he thought Duke abducted Audrey at the end. (I should rewatch season 2, too, but I only have season 1 on DVD...)
