cdrama: Strange Hero Yi Zhi Mei eps 14-18
-Did anyone find it a bit odd that Ge Xiao's backstory was completely dropped for these episodes? Given how much presence it had before, it seems odd. (Also, it has the only major female character outside of individual arcs in this show besides San Niang, even if she is double fridged and hasn't been developed much beyond "pure and tragic." Guo Li's other works and the other wuxia series I've been watching this year make that lack of other women here really stand out.)
-How did I not notice before that their base is called ""Live Drunk, Die Screaming"? This is particularly note worthy since it's basically an orphanage/halfway house for stray kids. Also, the teacher needs to show up way more. Especially in scenes with San Niang.
-These episodes were mostly about Hu's past and...I liked them and the plot, but for some reason, they didn't click the way I wanted them to, except for the scenes were Xiao Mei and San Niang thought it was their own private soap opera. (Also, Hu's daughter was basically a miniature version of San Niang. I loved when she wouldn't talk to Hu and San Niang was all "Just pretend it's me asking!" and when Ge Xiao got the shivers when she mentioned men who weren't able to get over their past loves.
-They should put Liu Shi Shi in blue more often, and Hu's actor in white more often. (Tianyu and Wallace Huo can keep their color schemes.)
-Xiao Mei is a great actor on missions, but bad on stage? More Leverage-ness!
-We have a creepy spooky cursed house and family! No doubt we will eventually have a completely non-supernatural resolution, but for now I will enjoy my family of women with mass murdering ghosts and bloody footprints and secret tombs. I did remind me that I have a Liao Zhai series downloaded that I haven't watched yet. (Though, really, it took too long for everyone else to catch up. They were missing out on their personal horror movie!) Also, I need to hit up DramaWiki, because I'm pretty sure I've seen Xiao Mei's cousin in things before. (Also, I love that he chooses to use his mother's name.)
