Game of Thrones 1.3-1.5 + upcoming fairy tale mashups

May 17, 2011 22:59

I am now ready for the deaths of the following characters:  Viserys, Joffrey, Robert, Baelish and Theon.

I am saddened that they won't all die.

In general, I like the showm but don't have a lot to say?  I think because most of my thoughts center around upcoming book bits.

some comments, not really spoilery, but just in case )

tv: game of thrones, tv: once upon a time, tv: grimm

I think they're trying to get people to not hate Cat on behalf of Tyrion.

I think you're right, though I actually kind of wonder at it? Because it seems it would be worse to have someone you respect a lot accuse you of a crime you didn't commit (particularly something like trying to murder that person's child) than someone you don't have any strong feelings about either way.

But then, I never really had problems with this arc the way some do. I mean, obviously she's wrong and you can see why it wasn't a smart thing to do and she REALLY needed stronger evidence to go on, but what little she had made him the best candidate, and she probably wasn't going to get a better chance than that.

Well OTOH, the grudging respect seems to come after the accusation, so maybe it mitigates it ( ... )

I hadn't even heard of Once Upon a Time before, but it does sound like a cool concept. I did see the trailer for Grimm yesterday (and had never heard of it before, either) and now I'm looking forward to it a lot.

With Grimm, i'm just worried we'll get another Supernatural with men bonding and women dying. Sometimes so men can bond.

************** Spoilers for A Song of Ice and Fire *******

I always thought that Tyrion "fancied" Sansa. I don't get the vibe that he likes Cat - in fact, he is much younger (one of the rare characters because all the rest is much older) than in the books, so I HOPE the show will do Sansa/Tyrion nicely when it comes.

Both Loras and Renly were kind of ridiculous (for which I have my own bee in a bonnet).

I like how they write Cat, Dany and Sansa. Cersei - I loved her as a power bitch she is in the book. I thought the fact that she was like that was important. But we will see.

I can't help but think thathaving Baelish tell Sansa about Sandor's past instead of Sandor himself is an indicator that they're going to be changing that plotline up a bit. IIRC, Sansa is actually the first person he ever told about that?I think so too - they probably will change all that storyline. I liked it very much (I genearlly like everything around Sansa). I was upset first, but I will be fine if they do well with Sansa and Tyrion, which is highly ( ... )

There's too much fang filing (presumably to make them more "likable") with Cat and Cersei to me. With Dany, they're emphasizing the "perfect white princess and the barbarians" a bit too much, though not as heavily as in the first 2 episodes. With Sansa, I can't help but think the show sees Sansa the way Arya does, but the show isn't a kid, so I'm less inclined to shrug it off.

I think there is a little of this, but on the whole she is much more sypmpathetic than she is in the first 2-3 books (for example, I definitely sensed the vibe of "Ned should ahve sepent more time with Sansa than with Arya" from the show).

See I forget things and I forgot that until you mentioned it. I think that is a shame they changed this.

Yes two snow white movies! I read about this in entertainment weekly a few months back and was properly elated. Also am super excited about television this fall, gone are the cop shows, medical shows and lawyer shows of yore! Here dawns a new age of tv that is about...OTHER THINGS. *cue fireworks*
Suffice to say fairytale shows isnt the only thing I'm looking forward to.
You are right that Once Upon a Time sounds way more fun. Grimm just sounds like Supernatural but with a fairytale spin. *yawns* will probably check it out anyway just to see if its fun instead of horribly misogynist.
