OMG it is 7 pm and 104 degrees fahrenheit (40 celcius)! And only going to get hotter.
Meanwhile, booksale observations:
Day 1: Note that prices have changed to 75 cents for paperback. Only half listen to announcement of the prices. See half the people put down their bags and boxes on top of tables to see what they REALLY want because they have to recalculate how many books they can get. Be frightened of the people who have scanners and scan every book in a genre and get every book they don't have. (This, I believe, is fairly equally split between people buying books to read, and various kinds of retailers.)
Day 2: Watch people stop discriminating in what they get when an announcement is made that banana boxes* of paperback books are $10 each. Become genuinely concerned when it's changed to any books.
I suspect that the price change didn't change the proceeds much (most people who are going to get a lot of books at this and the Adult Literacy Council booksale tend to have a certain amount they're going to spend/donate, regardless of how many books they get) but was resulting in more books being left that they'd have to get rid of, so once they had what they needed, it became more free for all.
*They hold about 50-100 books, depending on the size of the books.
