east coast

The more EIE alumni that join facebook, the more I think about my past.  My good past.  Everyone from EIE, even the people I was never especially friendly with.  Friends from NFTY WF, older and younger, but somehow none of them my age.  Tamara, Jeff, Ellie, Molly, Lissie, Naomi.  Aside from Ellie, I didn't see these people outside of NFTY stuff (or youth group in the case of Tamara).  Still.  Shouldn't some of the people I knew in NFTY be Jewish professionals by now?  A few people from EIE are in rabbinic school.  No one I know of went to HUC, but that isn't strange considering the group that went.

Also, I miss the east coast.  This program is right for me, but this coast isn't.  Or maybe it's being outside of the circles that people in my cohort make.  Everything is LA or conservative.  I didn't realize until today just how much the conservative movement does not focus on social action.  That's no good.  Social action is a pillar of my Judaism.
