*cough* Hi, long-time lurker, first-time poster here...
Anyway, for those of you who like this sort of thing--our Physics of Animation prof just linked us to this short piece that
Science Nation did on.. well basically the importance of reference, but specifically how Dreamworks incorporates real world physics into all its cool animation, highlighting Megamind and How To Train Your Dragon (a little more of the latter than the former, but still neat).

Incidentally, the animator at 0:40 talking a little bit about Megamind's cocky dance steps makes it look awkward matching the rig to what the body can do, but he can totally do it forward and back (he traipsed across the theater aisle for us at the premiere, doing that XD)
Also extra exciting for me because hee, guest starring our department and dinky little animation labs~
