Citizens of Metrocity!
I had another close encounter with Megamind at Office Works yesterday when I dropped into to buy some paper. They were playing the movie on their display screens while I was visiting, so I got to see Tighten's first fight with Megamind when I walked in, and after I wandered off to find my paper and came back again I got to watch Megamind's final showdown with Tighten, ending with the cheering citizens of Metrocity Metro City gathering around to cheer him as their new Hero and saviour.
... And it occurred to me that the citizens of Metrocity besides being pretty helpless and easily cowed, are desperately eager to find a new hero. Any hero. Because when Tighten defeats Megamind in his first battle the citizens gather around him to hail him as a hero and thank him for "freeing them". Only to be told that the city is now under new management...
I wonder if this is comment on the superhero genre in general?
