If DreamWorks is trying to make things right with the movie "Rise of the Guardians," both in terms of relating to their fans and overall story and artistic quality--I'll consider seeing it

(I personally would like to see a RoxannexWayne pairing myself - blasphemous that may be)
What if we did a weekly fanfic bookclub? Maybe each week, one of us could take a random fic that we never read before and then (maybe with permission from the author) post the basic synopsis of it, the pos./neg.'s we found from it and then our overall viewpoint on the story itself, if we liked it, loved it or just didn't agree with it.
This could develop discussion on said piece maybe get someone from FF who doesn't know we exist to check us out and, maybe take in whatever advice that we could dish out.
*shrugs* just a thought. But once school lets out I'll have more freedom to devote to projects and story reads. Just another 2 weeks!
I was thinking about doing something like that for "Pale Blue Shadows." That was one amazingly powerful story.
If this were to be a regular discussion of fanfics, though, I would really put the emphasis on being positive. I wouldn't discuss a fanfic to rip it apart or anything.
It is a good suggestion! Especially about getting permission from the author.

The fans are around, and doing their crack pairings and smut, they're just all in the Tumblr RP. Myself, Sev, Dani, Scarlet, Blue, Juno, Vampyra, Crow, Sanzo, etcetcetc... We are definitely writing and supporting Megamind, but we're a little... distracted. By lots of character development and smut threads. Mmyes

I think RP-ing could be helpful as brainstorming for my fanfics when I have a severe case of writer's block, but I'm afraid tumblr would just be this black hole and suck away what little of a life I have.
And I understand RL drama and problems. It feels like I'm living in a near, perpetual purgatory with employment being sporadic and short-term. I got a job as a material handler not that long ago that was supposed to last for 3 months and only lasted 8 days!

but I'm afraid tumblr would just be this black hole and suck away what little of a life I have It would. Without a doubt. I've been RPing "evil" Megamind for a year now and I have no plans to stop. His story has changed so much now and it's basically AU and strange... I am way too curious to see where he goes!
Sorry about employment. I've got apps out all over and am in huge trouble too, I'm jealous of anyone that can hold one at all. ;;
Also would be nice for people to request more fanarts and fics, so people who's inspiration is lacking (read me xD) would maybe get a kick to do something new.
I don't think the Megamind/Roxanne pairing is getting stale (it's my main ship), but I agree that the other ships are just as important, and just as fun!
I agree. If you don't think an author deserves positive praise than you shouldn't.
I can understand where people don't like being negative and critical of other people's work, but since we brand ourselves as a community that is very supportive of each other maybe we should try to foster the development of those who are new and struggling. Plus if NO ONE tells you what you could be doing better and gives you that pat on the back for trying how are you ever going to get better?
On the flip side those people who are new and not getting a lot of feedback should take the step of asking for help and get a beta.
You would think I would remember the user name belonging to the trouble some former comm member who wrote the series w/ her OC Edith Scott, but I don't.
