Strip #30 of No-Show Hero is KICKING MY ASS.  This was supposed to be the dinky little comic strip that I can draw with no effort.  The thing to draw whether I'm tired or braindead or art-blocked.  Just whip it out at work and doodle away!

Remember how simplistic those first ones were?  Huh?  Some of the panels where Hackett first shows up are so stupid-simple, they almost annoy me now.  But NUMBER 30!  The TOWN!  It's not even a BIG town, but it's by far the most complicated strip so far.

Garr.  Got my art book for Avatar: The Last Airbender a while ago.  Those background artists put me to shame.  *cries* I want to be them.  Well, no, actually I want to be the ones who can animate the priceless characters I love so much.  (Foamy-mouth guy just made everything better, am I right?)

But NO.  Go be a medical illustrator, Meg.  That's the kind of stuff you're good at.  All that detail and accuracy that requires no fantastic imagination or skill in creating fluid poses or zany facial expressions or expressive compositions or world-building or any of the stuff you love.  GO DO THAT.

Makes me grit my teeth, thinking about it, but I'm committed now.  Sigh.

Ah, well.  No-Show Hero #30 comin' at you soon, I hope.

life and all that that implies, avatar, no-show hero
