Why, Movie Magic, Do You Suck So Hard Sometimes?

Back to that problem I have with the Harry Potter movie castings... I've been repeatedly and firmly against their decision(s) to use tried and true British actors and squeezing them into the roles, rather than finding any of the hundreds of capable actors out there who would have looked the parts.  That's not a slight on the venerable actors they ( Read more... )

I'm not a Harry Potter fan myself (including of the movies), but it's natural to be annoyed with how characters have been cast and treated in big screen adaptations. I feel the same about the Watchmen movie...

Huh. Whereas I was pleased with the Watchmen casting. Why didn't you lik them? (Just curious, not argumentative.)

This is exactly why I had problems with his casting. I do have issues in seeing actors I've only known playing villains suddenly playing good characters. And I remembered him specifically as the snotty little evil prince/king from Dragonheart.

Though, someone did link me once to scenes from a movie he did with Leonardo diCaprio in which they play lovers. o.o It was strange.

It was for this reason I thought I wouldn't be able to handle David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor. Not after seeing him as Barty Crouch Jr.! But, well, he was Barty for all of five minutes, and he's just such a charming Doctor... he's one of the few ( ... )

THANK you. The last movie was absurd. That's the kindest word I can think of.

It was flashy and pretty, but plot-retarded.

For some reason, it amuses me greatly that you didn't know this, because it's absolutely all I've ever been able to associate Thewlis with ever. I think maybe we watched Dragonheart again right before PoA came out, but it leapt out at me immediantly, and wouldn't ever ever leave.

I still basically feel like these movies are just fanart or something. Supplimental material to the books, if you will, nothing great or stand-alone.

YOU! *poke*

*pokes back* And I didn't just figure this out yesterday, oh no. I figured it out either during my first viewing of PoA or directly afterward when I checked the casting. I've known for a very long time, I'm just only saying something about it now.

Actually it was his voice that clued me in. And as soon as I put his voice to Einon and made that connection, I also made the mental leap to the Earthworm's voice. I'm pretty sure I only ever used the internet for verification.

*pokes again* Miss you. Glad you had fun times at Dragon*Con.
