About 10 percent of my objection is due to not being able to relate to obsessive fan-status in the first place. I can't imagine losing my head over ANY celebrity or popular movie/book/show/sports team, etc. There should be a limit to fandom. I have to figure that if you're that obsessed with something else that's popular, you've resigned yourself to being a nothing. If you've become a FAN, and that is your identity, then you have lost yourself, and my respect.

I think the last time I went super-obsessive was when i was fourteen, with the Backstreet Boys, but even then, I .. probably wouldn't have driven to Orlando to go to a Backstreet Boys convention or anything. And while I totally wanted to be Mrs. Brian Littrell, I also had the frame of mind to be like "Dude, you're fourteen, he's like.. 10 years older than you. You don't even have boobs. You'll never meet. " (..well, I probably did have boobs, but that's neither here nor there.)

The fact that they're getting that obsessive about something that isn't even any GOOD boggles my mind. I did give the last book a chance, and read a synopsis of it (it had excerpts and such, too). I .. the werewolf bonding with the baby who is also his soulmate just floored me. Like.. I .. wot? -Wot?-.
