Contractually Speaking.

So I just had a chat with Mr. Meany. It seems he's gotten a copy of my contract! Now call me crazy, but I thought that was private information, between me and my Board Of Education. Is nothing sacred? Apparently, a few days ago he decided that I should be treated like they treat the JET's in Hokuto, and he has decided to get my BOE to regulate me more. GREAT. I can't wait. I think perhaps my weekly dentist appointments were the straw that broke the camels back, but sue me if I leave early on Tuesdays (WHEN I AM NOT TEACHING) to go deal with a freaking ROOT CANAL! Then he asks if I was absent from East for three weeks? WHAT? When would I have been absent for three weeks, ever? You've got to be kidding. And sick days, I get twenty, how many have I used? What the hell? Of course, he neglected to notice where it said clearly, in black and white, that my hours are 8:30-4:15, NOT, I repeat, NOT the 8am start that I was told when I first got here. Following my contract only matters if it works to their advantage.

Well shit. Cause tomorrow I was going to remind them that I am leaving Dec. 11th. They've already agreed to it, as has the BOE, and they can't do a damn thing about it, but it could make life unbearable for awhile. Lucky for me I am leaving this hole of a school tomorrow. Of course, what is next, regulating my bathroom breaks? I mean, seriously. Wanna talk contract? What about my hour lunch period?? What about the money I'm NOT GETTING because of taxes, that is rightfully mine. Yes, let's talk contracts, shall we?

And in the end, I don't work for them. I work for the BOE, West just happens to get me every other month. They don't HAVE to. There are other schools in the district. In any case, as I told him, I can only do what I'm told, and if I don't get told anything, I'll assume it's ok. I am not a mind reader and I especially don't read the Japanese mind. Spell it out in black and white, or don't come to me when you find you've been doing it wrong for over two years.

contract, jet, boe, meany, school
