My bad, I forgot to tell you all some good news.
Last week I had an appointment with someone in the Archaeology Department of The Hague, to chat about the possibility of me doing some volunteer work for them. It went great. I got it. :D Yay! So, they want me to do a really easy task. To put some info in the computer. Not difficult stuff, really very very very easy stuff. :D
Anyway, the day I had the appointment some other people worked as well, so we got introduced. The man I had the chat with told me more about the department and the work they do and he showed me the place they worked in. Archaeological finds can be spotted everywhere. Cool!
Lots of Roman stuff. He told me that they had an exhibition in October and were alreayd trying to figure out what they want to be exhibited. He gave me a DVD - on loan. It's a DVD made for Schools to show what Archaeology is all about in The Hague. He also said that although he wanted me to do computer work, the first day I get to work for them I didn't have to do that. I could help with washing the finds then. Wow! *beams* *big wide grin* We arranged that I would work for the first time on July 26th. I'll only work for four hours with them. I can't work more hours, I got a fulltime job already. :D
Yesterday I got to work for the first and it was SO thrilling and exciting. Boy, am I glad I made that phone call. I got to wash finds in two bags. Lots of pottery. In one bag also some pieces of bricks. Both bags had tiny pieces of bones in them. The finds from that particular site were found in clay. The kind of clay that is very persistant to stay on whichever object was laying in it. So, that's why I only did two bags.
I came in and they were still having lunch. We ended up in a discussion on Archaeological subjects. *had to restrain from bouncing* That was SO nice and exciting and thrilling. I mean, I got interest in history and such, lots of my knowledge I build at school has gotten rusty or forgotten. So it was cool to discuss some issues nonetheless and even adding some things to it that they didn't wipe under the table immediately. We also agreed we loved the show Time Team from Discovery Channel and that they really ought to show it again.
I got lots of energy yesterday. I was bouncing on my bike when I finished washing the finds and cleaning the washing area. So much fun. *still thrilled* The next appointment for working there is August 16th. Can't wait. :D
Another topic completely. This evening I'll be going to the movies, with a bunch of movie buffs. We decided to go to Good night, and good luck. I am really curious about this one. Will tell more tonight or tomorrow about that movie.
